Cyber-related exposures know no national or regional boundaries, but each region nonetheless has its own issues, perspectives and priorities. The 2014 Advisen Asia-Pacific Cyber Risk and Insurance Conference explored the changing threat landscape faced by A-P companies, offered practical risk management, loss prevention and loss mitigation advice, and explored the insurance options now available.
The program included an update on privacy regulation and enforcement throughout the A-P region, and examined some of the newer, troublesome data security issues such as cloud computing and mobile devices. A particular focus of the conference was on operational cyber risks -- events that can disrupt a company's ability to conduct business, resulting in both direct financial losses and reputation damage. A-P companies are frequent targets of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, and the region will continue to be especially active in this realm of cyber risk.
The 2014 Advisen Asia-Pacific Cyber Risk and Insurance Conference featured leading system security experts, regulators, privacy law attorneys and cyber insurance professionals. The conference showcased world-renowned experts in cyber espionage, hacktivism and cyber terrorism.
Future conferences will be of special interest to risk managers, brokers and insurance carrier representatives, but also will be highly valuable to any policymaker or business leader concerned about the emerging risks to businesses, governmental entities and the economy.
