NEW YORK— June 18, 2020 – For the first time ever, cyber risk professionals celebrated the top performers and their industry peers via live stream. Advisen’s seventh annual Cyber Risk Awards: Quarantine Edition was broadcast virtually and featured cameo appearances from Jeremey Gittler of AXA XL, Tom Srail of Willis Towers Watson, and Shannon Groeber & Graeme Newman of CFC Underwriting delivering roast and toast banter to a global audience of over 1,000.
While sheltering-in-place, Advisen celebrated the hard-work of prominent professionals and organizations across the cyber risk landscape. Even during such unprecedented times, thousands of votes were cast in 14 categories to highlight the excellence of insurers, brokers, and service providers by way of these People’s Choice awards. All 100+ nominees were asked to send in advance acceptance speech videos, and Advisen’s Cyber Risk Editor Erin Ayers announced the winners and played the winners’ remarks.
Three individuals and 12 companies were recognized, including Patrick Costello & Michael Costello of Evolve and Graeme Newman of CFC Underwriting, who were selected by voters as Cyber Risk Industry Persons of the Year in the USA and London markets respectively. Winning companies included Beazley as Cyber Risk Insurer, Munich Re as Cyber Risk Reinsurer or Reinsurance Broker, Howden as Cyber Risk Retail Broker, and INSUREtrust as Cyber Risk Wholesaler.
Additionally, our 42 Cyber Commissioners selected CrowdStrike as the Cyber Service Provider of the Year, and the Prudential Regulation Authority/Lloyd’s Silent Cyber Mandate as the Cyber Disrupter of the Year with the greatest impact.
Lastly, Advisen’s editorial team led by Managing Editor Chad Hemenway named Shannon Groeber this year’s Cyber Champion.
